My husband and I are big believers in the benefits of swaddling little babies. We found the gorgeous Comfy Bebe merino swaddle and have been using it on our youngest, Emelyn since she was just 2 weeks old. Emelyn was Premature at birth, just 2.6kgs (5lb 8oz) so it’s important to keep her warm and we find Merino to be the best for this.

Even though Emelyn is little, she fits this swaddle perfectly. We have used other swaddles on our two older children (who were also little) and found them to be too big and un-adjustable for size. We also love that we can continue to use this swaddle as a sleep sack when Emelyn is older and no longer needs to be wrapped.

Comfy Bebe’s 3 in 1 Swaddle is so easy to use. Even for Gran and Dad who didn’t get shown how to use it. I find it very user-friendly.

Paula from Comfy Bebe was so knowledgeable and helpful about swaddling and baby sleeping. I was amazed that Emelyn slept from the time Paula wrapped her the first time at Mary’s Market until well after we got home.

We were very impressed that we can safely buckle up the baby capsule whilst Emelyn is still in the wrap. This means her sleep isn’t disturbed and she sleeps for longer.

I get lots of compliments about the swaddle when going out. It’s super handy for going Supermarket shopping and the merino is great for the ever changing temperatures going in and out of the car and supermarket.

One of the best things about this swaddle is that it’s practical! I can change Emelyn’s nappy without having to undo her arms. This means midnight feeding and nappy changing is quicker and less disturbing and Emelyn goes back to sleep faster.

Even though it’s easy to wash and quick to dry, don’t just get one of these swaddles. I find that I am lost when mine is in the wash.

“I was getting so sick and tired of trying to awkwardly write Kahlan’s name or initials into her shoes for daycare. Always looked like I was either drunk or trying to write left handed…. hardly ever actually turned out readable haha. Then the vivid or pen would run after a few times of her wearing them.
Lo and behold I came across these wonderful inventions at Identity Direct when I was having a browse the other day, bought them and LOVE them!
They are a little name label – that look exactly like the picture. They are just a sticker, but they come with a protective cover that you put over them and they don’t come off. I was somewhat sceptical thinking there is no way a sticker will stay on in a shoe – but they really do! Its very difficult to even try and peel them off. Love them. Highly recommend to you if you have littlies in daycare, or at school and you are wanting to name their shoes in a stylish, easy way. Very cool.”

She then came BACK to us, a month later – still very happy with her purchased product.

“Just for an update on these – the shoe dots are still going strong, so far none of them have fallen off. And they are used in kahlan’s daycare shoes, so they definitly get a thrashing – get wet etc. Still very happy with these ”

We received our yesterday and since we were so excited, I quickly tried it on my 15 month old son. First of all, he hates wearing bibs but surprising he wore this one and didn’t try to pull it off. Secondly, he is a messy eater like any other child his age so the bib did a good job in protecting his shirt. During the meals I did not prevent him from turning his face as I do usually since the bib covered the needed area requiring protection. After meal, I washed it and indeed it dried quickly. Today, in the morning he pointed to the bib and suggested that he wanted to wear it.. don’t know exactly what he likes so much in it that he ACTUALLY wants to wear it.. I’ll certainly will be buying more of these! Thank you for this opportunity to try this great product!

Recieved our Unique Bandanna BIB today. Firstly LOVE the colour pink!! is conveniently colour coordinated as my 17 month old was wearing pale pink today!! She has been teething wildly while cutting four more teeth for the last few days. And dribbling like a waterfall.
I was both amazed and impressed that her top underneath the bib was bone dry.Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to try this bib. i would totally recommend it to anyone wanting to find a good reliable dribble bib that actually absorbs the dribble, while keeping clothes dry!! I was given the opportunity to try this product. My 1 yr old is a constant dribbler (doesn’t close his mouth) so I have tried many bibs. This bib sat nicely around the neck (a lot flatter than other bandana bibs and closer to the neck). After an hour of it being on however once again his shirt was starting to get damp underneath (mainly around the neck edge) and he was rather red under the chin where the very soggy wet top layer had been rubbing (I think his saliva is rather acidic). I thought that maybe soaking in water for a while (like I do with fleece nappies) might help the absorbency. I did this and it dried quickly overnight. Yes this did help the fleece absorb however the wet top layer still caused redness under chin.

This bib will not suit our situation however believe that it would work for others that do not have open mouth dribblers like me. I loved the fit and look and was a nice light blue. I have passed this on to a friend to try on her son who does not dribble so much.

Merino all in one review

Review on a purchase of a merino all in one! Shared from one of our members. If you have bought anything from BABU – or have tried a similar item, please – share your views in the comments box, we’d love to hear them :).

“Recently at the Auckland Baby Show, I purchased a merino all in one for my 7 week old niece from the ‘BABU‘ stand. First of all the staff at babu were so friendly, and that was a big thing for me – friendly smiley staff is always a big tick for me. I’ve never bought anything from BABU, but the friendly staff is enough to make me want to come back on it’s own!

Anyway, the product. I choose an over the head merino all in one – in the color Rose Pink and size NB.  I know my sister loves merino for her girl, so to pick up a 100% merino all in one for only $10 in their ‘bargain bin’ – I was stoked! So was she when I messaged her saying I had bought it. When she came around today, I excitedly put the outfit on her. She looked so cute in it, but aside from how cute it was – what I first noticed; is how snugly warm it felt. Merino is a soft wool compared to most, but I still find some merino brands a wee bit rougher than others. This was definitely a lot softer than some that I’ve seen. Baby girl also still wears prem sized clothes most of the time, as she’s a small baby – but even though I bought the ‘0000’ size, the outfit fitted her quite snug, but I could see there was still room for her to grow into. My sister also noted that even as baby girl starts to grow taller – the outfit will still fit for longer because it’s footless. Whereas many of her footed outfits, are getting a big tight and she can no longer wear them. We found this quite a good thing, because if either of us were to buy another one for the retail price of $45, we would want the item to last as long as possible. Babies grow so quickly – that something as simple as being footless, would get at least another couple of weeks out of the product that a footed all in one.

Also we both noticed that when baby was inside, the outfit was enough for her to wear with a pair of socks and underneath bodysuit (also merino) and not be too cold, or too hot. However when my sister was leaving, she was able to still put another layer of clothes on her for warmth. Usually with babies – each added layer of clothing, bundles them up more and restricts their movement. Whereas because the product is shaped and made so lightly, you couldn’t even tell she was wearing an extra layer! But we both knew, that going outside is cold – but baby would be nice and snugly warm. Again, we thought this was important with a 7 week old.

All in all, the product got a lot of big ticks from us all, and I would definitely purchase them again. Probably the one thing that my sister noted, was that because it was an over the head all in one – the only domes are on the legs. She didn’t like the idea that if baby pooped, and it leaked – as commonly happens with newborns, she would have to then take it off and watch she didn’t get any on her wee girls face or arms as she tried to slide it off. I also noticed that because there were no domes down the front of the outfit, there was nothing to ‘pull the outfit in’ – so I noticed as baby wriggled, the necking of the outfit actually got quite bunched up under her chin. We both talked about this, and agreed that if we were going to chose between an over the head all-in-one, and a dome up the front all in one, we would chose the dome up the front one. However after the first day of use, that’s probably the only ‘downfall’ of having that specific style for a newborn.

Thanks so much BABU! Both my sister and I were impressed with the outfit, and my rating would probably be 8/10. The 8, simply because when my sister mentioned about the downfall of it being over head – I entirely agreed with this, and because of the bunching under the chin.

I would still be back for more of these though. And definitely recommend them to all new mothers/fathers – or even to people wanting to buy something ‘different’ as a new baby gift for expectant parents. They come in a variety of sizes and colors so cater to a variety of ages, sizes and boy/girls. “

I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to review this kool product from Cruisy baby,
My son was 8 weeks prem but was 10 weeks old when I used this for the first time.

I really liked the print on it. and thought that having a hat to match is really cool. I also loved the idea of having magnets instead of having domes…
The first time I used it was a night time feed, I really liked that I didn’t have to turn the main light on to change my son. But the only down side was that when you open the magnets they always seemed to open all the way and its not cool when its cold. Lucky I had the fire going so it didn’t matter.
One thing that would make it better on the new born size would be if it had the turn over mittens on the end of the sleeves. I’ve found these handy on other outfits.
But all in all I really like this and will be telling all my friends with little ones bout this 🙂

We were very lucky and won the right to review the “Magnificent Baby” set in blue with elephants on it. What a gorgeous outfit!! The elephant print is soooo cute, I always find it hard to find nice boys clothes, especially something nice enough to draw comments from others. The pattern on this is just beautiful and we had lots of compliments on the set. It’s been a pleasure to review it!

Marley is 5 months old today, we’ve washed and worn it 3 times over the last 2 weeks to be able to come back with a really decent review for you. He has happily been wearing 3-6 month clothing in other brands during this time. The set fits him well, but I don’t think he’d still be wearing it at 6 months old – he fills it out perfectly right now, but no room for growth. That being said, he is a on the 90th percentile with Plunket for weight and height, so he is at the bigger end of the scale size-wise. The magnet fastening is the biggest issue we have… they just aren’t strong enough to keep the singlet done up, if I pick him up it all pops open with the movement, if he is wriggling on the floor or grabs at his top and pulls, it all comes undone. And not just the join down the middle, but the groin flap (what is the correct term for this bit?!) comes undone too. It’s very frustrating!
I appreciate the nod towards the fact that poppers are infuriating and often fall or rip off of the clothing. And the idea of magnets is very innovative, but in this case they just don’t work. Either the magnets need to be stronger – but then that comes with health concerns – or a different fastening approach should be used, or I can foresee many returns on this product.

I wouldn’t be happy if I had purchased the set and found this issue. I also found that the magnets stuck to the drum of the washing machine and pulled the singlet, making it come out with a very stretched groin flap! I hate to give bad feedback, but I hope the honesty is appreciated and helpful! 🙂

We use a mixture of both cloth and disposable nappies. It fits fine over disposable nappies, but not over the bulk of a MCN (Modern Cloth Nappy). There isn’t enough length in the singlet to allow it, and the trousers don’t have a high enough waist to sit correctly over it.

Negatives aside, the pattern is beautiful, the colours are gorgeous, the quality of the material is fantastic and washes very well. I would love to see this set with a top instead of a magnetic singlet – especially as it is winter, it’s a shame to have to cover up the print on the singlet with tops/jumpers. If it weren’t for the magnets, this set would be getting 5/5!
