REVIEWS

My youngest daughter with her older brother (and other brother watching from the doorway not letting us see him) watched ‘Pingu The Babysitter’ today after school. It comes in a lovely bright blue case and every episode is separate. Pingu seems to always get into mischief and I could see how my older son was laughing as he could see himself playing pranks on people. My boys’ when smaller used to watch Pingu on videos we were given from their grandparents in England until they were just about worn out and I can just see my youngest daughter watching Pingu again and again.

Pingu is just such a lovable penguin with his beak fully extending and always ends up helping others or realising that what he is doing is wrong. His big orange feet and sliding on his tummy is just gorgeous and my daughter said he must be a Emperor Penguin as they slide on their tummys and only lay one egg. So this Pingu DVD is also educational. 10 episodes in this DVD and my sister’s little girl who is 4yrs old will also love to watch this as I still watched and it bought back lovely memories. Highly recommended

My son is 3 and has always loved Pingu so it was fantastic that we got picked for this review. Thank you! It arrived (plain disc, no case) a few days ago and he has watched it at least 5 times. When I put it on for him, it started and all I could hear was him giggling. I think Pingu is great great, as the child has to really use their imagination and observe what is happening as Pingu only makes ‘Pingu sounds’, there are no ‘words’. Great DVD, would certainly recommend Pingu

REVIEW

We were lucky enough to get this disc. my wee Bella is 19 months so on the edge of just being old enough to sit and watch. we put it on and i left her to it, she did walk away several mostly her concentration span does not last that long but for the parts she did watch she was engrossed in it, at one point she even laughed something i have never seen her do when watching a dvd/tv and she at points danced along to the music or clapped her hands etc. ether way it was a great. Myself, I thought it was really cute, with lovely stories and just really easy to watch. Well done ABC I would now look at getting the others in the set as she gets older
PS.
It is going into hospital with me when i have my little man so when she comes to visit she can be entertained without getting so fidgety

The aim of Mums Review is to give honest reviews so that is what my review is – my honest opinion! I am planning on passing this on to someone else to give another honest opinion – and then everyone can form their own
Personally, if I was to allow a child this age to watch something, I would want it to be helping language development. Once they have mastered language, then the totally visual stuff is good. I know that a lot of parents will put their children in front of a DVD and leave them to it (no criticism – each to their own here!) and while this is cute and lovely, I feel a child would benefit more by having a parent sitting and chatting about it with them.No talking – disappointing for language development. Obviously animals don’t talk but they also don’t have birthday parties
I think it would have been a lot better with speaking in it.Nice catchy theme music but the constant animal noises were irritating after a while!
Animals created from plasticene (Aardman produced) – nice and colourful. Pleasing on eyes
Very visual as to what was going on but, as I said, would have been so much better with talking – counting, paying for things, how to be a good friend etc.Not a series I would be letting my toddler watch.

REVIEW.
We had been wanting to get a universal remote for a long time to get rid of the many remotes we have lying around and just use one.
The instructions to use this remote were very east to understand and follow.
With some remotes I find the buttons to be too small and when you push them you accidently push the wrong one but with this remote they were spaced out nicely and easy to read.
The only problem we had was on the net trying to set up all our devices with the remote, it took quite a while but once that was sorted it worked very well.
The best thing about the Logitech Harmony – 600 Remote was that it connected with our stereo, we have tried many other remotes in the past and none were able to work with the stereo so that was defiantly a bonus.
I think you would have to be a bit technically knowledgeable to set everything up but once its set is a very handy device to have!

Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910

Well, it’s been a while since I sat in front of a webcam, about 7 years to be exact and in my mind I still had visions of what my old webcam was like.
This one couldn’t have been more different.

It was so easy to set up and didn’t take long at all so that was my first surprise. For someone who isn’t particularly technically minded, this was a real bonus.
I sat there and had a play with some of the different functions and discovered that while it delivers an amazingly clear picture, it also had lots of fun features. I found it amusing to be a green alien, even if no one else could see the humour in that.
Even when the room I was in was starting to get dark, the picture through the webcam still remained clear and light enough to see.
The picture was a little delayed etc but it was easy enough to find the setting that turned the quality down and then it ran fine.
One of the things I did find with it was that I was limited to sitting in my computer chair right next to my computer which unfortunately for me aims right at my kitchen. Luckily that night the kitchen was tidy but it made me realize that I couldn’t have had it anywhere else.
I still have to have a play with it picture wise as it says one touch to put pics etc onto U Tube or Facebook so that should be fun.

All in all I found the webcam to be really great….far better than what I expected but then like I said, it’s been a while.
Now I just need to experience this skype ‘thing’ and all will be well with the world
